Ioanna Vitta and Lauren Cogley speak at the 2016 WISTA conference

Ioanna Vitta and Lauren Cogley attended the WISTA conference which was held at the Turkish Chamber of Shipping in Istanbul on 11 May 2016. The WISTA conference focused on the latest developments following the relaxation of the Iranian Sanctions by the E3/EU+3 and the US in January 2016.

Ioanna Vitta was a guest speaker – she spoke on ‘The Lifting of Iranian Sanctions – How much has really changed?’, and provided an overview of the changes that had been implemented following the relaxation of the nuclear-related sanctions against Iran and assessed whether in reality, individuals and corporate entities are now free to resume business with Iran. It was advised that although many sanctions have been removed by the EU, due to the restrictive measures still in place, particularly in the US, great caution should be exercised before entering into any transaction involving an Iranian party.

The conference was attended by Turkish shipping industry members.
