Charles is head of the International Trade and Commodities Group and specialises in Trade, Trade Finance and Shipping disputes. Within these areas of practice, he has a particular niche in respect of Civil Fraud and Conspiracy Cases. He also has considerable experience in offshore and energy disputes.
Charles is a member of the Commercial Fraud Lawyers Association, ICC UK Committee on Banking Technique and Practice (the committee dealing with the UCP 600) and a former Chairman of the British Maritime Law Association Committee on Arbitration and ADR. He is a Visiting Professor at City University and lectures regularly for many other educational and commercial institutions.
Charles qualified in 1979 with Thomas Cooper. He practised with other leading City law firms before rejoining Thomas Cooper in 1994.
