Welcome to Thomas Cooper LLP
From the minute you join us, you’ll be actively involved in Thomas Cooper culture. Not only will you be given responsibility, interesting and varied work, you’ll also receive hands-on training from experienced partners, a chance to work with some of our key clients, and most importantly will be made to feel a valued member of the team.
Thomas Cooper LLP’s trainees are the future partners and primary source of recruitment of lawyers. Our trainee recruitment policy is focused on making offers only to candidates whom we believe will be able to join us as qualified lawyers on qualification. We do not recruit a disproportionately high number of trainees with a view to ending their connection with us two years later. 12 of our partners trained with the firm.
Our trainees may expect interesting and intellectually demanding work and contact with clients, counsel, expert witnesses and others. Much of our practice involves clients from both the UK and overseas. Our Trainees also have the opportunity to spend part of their seat in a few of our overseas offices as business needs demand which gives them invaluable exposure to working with our global network of clients.
We have a reputation for having a congenial working environment and we aim to maintain that without jeopardising a highly professional and client focused approach to the work.
Please note, the deadline for September 2021 applications will be 30 June 2019 and the deadline for September 2022 applications will be 31 July 2019. Any applications received after the deadline dates set will not be considered.
We actively encourage all of our Trainees to undertake an overseas secondment. As a Trainee, you could be selected for seconded for six months or more, at our discretion, to one of our overseas offices. On qualification you may also be offered a secondment to one or more of our overseas offices or that of an affiliated or associated firm for a period of 18 months plus or minus one month at the firm’s option or longer if mutually agreed.
