Alex McIntosh



Alex is a member of the shipping group. He advises on disputes arising under charterparties, bills of lading, shipbuilding and restructuring contracts, as well as salvage work, including casualties and LOFs. Alex also has experience in trade, including work on letters of credit, sale and purchase contracts, factoring, debt collection, insurance (both marine and non-marine), coverage advice, facility agreements, transactional documentation and policy wordings.

Alex has been highlighted and praised in Chambers & Partners for being “very switched on” and “very prompt.”

  • Advising owner in charterparty dispute regarding dock loading
  • Advising owner in bills of lading dispute regarding damage to cargo, involving time bar and dual claim issues.


Alex joined Thomas Cooper as a partner in 2017 with 30 years prior experience practicing in Greece, London and Hong Kong, where Alex qualified. Alex is the Director of the Lloyds Maritime Academy Certificate in Chartering Course and a supporting member of the LMAA.
