Alexandra Shipulina



Alexandra is a member of our Finance Group. She specialises in banking, trade and ship finance including bilateral and syndicated lending, invoice discounting, regulatory work, sale & purchase and shipbuilding contracts.

Alexandra also has experience with a range of shipping cases including vessel collisions, salvages, ship management agreements, various disputes in relation to charterparties and marine insurance. She has helped conduct a major marine insurance case in the High Court and then an appeal to the Court of Appeal.

Alexandra is a Russian qualified lawyer and assists with cases involving Russian or Russian speaking clients and counterparties.


Alexandra joined Thomas Cooper in 2008 and qualified in 2013.

Before moving to London, Alexandra worked as a senior legal adviser for a management company in Moscow. She advised on various commercial transactions including sale of goods, agency and distribution agreements, letters of credit and various aspects of the Russian foreign exchange control laws. Alexandra was also involved in negotiating and drafting various bi-lingual (Russian/ English) commercial contracts and represented the company before the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Alexandra holds an LLM in International Commercial Law from the University College London and an LLM in Civil Law and Private International Law (Hons) from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Moscow.
