In addition, he is highly experienced in commercial arbitration in contractual law, and he is normally involved with disputes related to insurance and reinsurance, trade, transport, commercial, infrastructures/construction and commodities (GNL, oil, bulkers, steel, etc.). He is a key contact for yacht and superyachts related matters.
Bernardo read law at the University Complutense de Madrid and obtained a LLM in Shipping, Transport, International Trade and Insurance at the University of Cardiff-Wales (UK). PHd courses in Commercial Law preparing his thesis in Insurance.
Bernardo is an arbitrator listed by several Chambers of Commerce and took the courses to be a mediator. He is a member of the Bar Association, Spanish Arbitration Club, International Insurance Club and the Spanish Maritime Law Association.
He is a professor at the University of Loyola and he lectures in Business Schools such as ICADE/IME and ISDE. Bernardo qualified in 2014 as a Spanish Average Adjuster to increase his expertise in claims and the resolution of disputes. He is author of numerous publications on shipping, and insurance matters.
His professional experience includes claims handling as P&I Correspondent and law firms such as Garrigues and KPMG Abogados under the umbrella of the Commercial and Litigation/Arbitration departments.
