Evelyn Komaki



Evelyn is an experienced maritime lawyer. She has gained insight in the marine sector from the perspective of both a shipping law firm as well as from being the head of the legal department / claims manager at a shipping company.

Evelyn has been involved in shipping litigation / arbitration and other forms of ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution). As a practising lawyer she has arrested vessels, executed and negotiated settlement agreements, pursued and defended lawsuits for unpaid bunkers (including in the context of the OW Bunker disputes), salvage, pollution (resisting administrative fines, third-party liability and criminal prosecution of crew), pursued and defended security measures for provisional attachment of assets and bank accounts, acted for the establishment of Greek offices of off-shore based corporations. As an in-house lawyer, Evelyn has advised in various day to day shipping matters, handled cargo and charterparty disputes and worked closely with the operations and chartering departments of the shipping company that she was with.

Evelyn joined Thomas Cooper in November 2018. She had previously worked at Georgopoulos and Partners law firm, a Greek shipping litigation firm and Nordia Bulk A/S Ltd., a Greek shipping company as the Head of the Legal Department.

Evelyn holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Athens and a Master of Laws (LL.M) on Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. She is currently training to qualify as a Solicitor of England and Wales.

Evelyn is fluent in Greek and French.
