Richard Morris


Emergency Response


Richard is a Partner in the Shipping group and is a key a member of our Emergency Response team. He specialises in shipping with particular emphasis on admiralty law and disputes in the offshore sector. Richard has considerable experience in collisions and salvage as well as oil pollution claims, yachts, total losses, fires and groundings, and a string of current offshore cases, including acting for a major Norwegian seismic survey company concerning the loss of a seismic streamer. Additionally Richard was involved in the handling of the Bourbon Dolphin Disaster / public Inquiry in 2008 for Gulf Offshore of Aberdeen.

Richard also deals with and has a wide experience of criminal offences at sea matters, regulatory investigations and fishing claims as well as insurance related disputes.


Richard became a partner in 2004 having joined the firm in 1985. Prior to that, he worked at the Treasury Solicitor’s Office dealing with Government shipping matters, public inquires into ship losses and claims. Richard has more than 30 years of experience.
