Sarah is regularly instructed on a broad range of commercial shipping matters including charterparty and bill of lading disputes, and insurance claims.
As an accomplished sailor having competed internationally, worked on yachts and as Yachtmaster she also has developed particular expertise in advising on and handling yacht related matters. Sarah is instructed to deal with yacht and superyacht claims and disputes, including casualties and disputes under related contracts such as sale and purchase, build and refit, and charters. She also advises on regulatory issues including those arising in respect of the Maritime Labour Convention and crewing generally and accordingly also works alongside the personal injury department in the event of accidents.
Sarah is instructed by owners, managers and yards to advise on contracts relevant to superyacht operations, including charters, management agreements, new build and refit contracts.
Sarah is also a Spanish speaker.
Sarah joined Thomas Cooper as a partner in 2018. Whilst she qualified as a solicitor with Thomas Cooper in 2003, she went on to spend two years working for an International Group P&I Club before working with another London shipping law firm where she was made partner in 2015.
