Thomas Cooper Partner Promotions Press Release
Thomas Cooper continues to boost its partnership with the announcement of four internal promotions across the business’ key sectors, including Shipping, International Trade & Commodities, Insurance and Reinsurance and Finance.
The announcement highlights our commitment to expansion in support of our positioning as one of the recognised leaders in the market.
As from 1 November 2014, the partnership will be enhanced with the promotion of Lisa Hillary, Ceri Done, Celso de Azevedo and Simon Murfitt.
Lisa Hillary is particularly knowledgeable on container trade to include disputes arising under liner and consortium agreements, many following major casualties. She has also been involved in recent high-profile multi-jurisdictional trade disputes and commodity disputes. Ceri Done, who is a shipping specialist, advises on collisions, ship sale and purchase and charterparties disputes. Celso de Azevedo, an insurance and reinsurance specialist, focuses on cross border disputes and conflict of laws issues in complex Latin American and European insurance and reinsurance disputes, particularly involving marine, casualty, offshore, energy, construction, property, engineering and business interruption losses, together with subrogation claims. Simon Murfitt who specialises in maritime and offshore projects and finance, has particular expertise, both in the UK and internationally, in the aviation and other transport (including rail) sectors. All are welcomed to the partnership as of 1 November 2014.
The announcement comes as part of the continued expansion across our UK and international core sectors, having over the last year also announced a few new joiners to the partnership, including Trade and Commodity specialist, Alex Monk to the London office and recently insurance and transport expert Bernardo Ruiz Lima and his team, Victor Mata, Juan José Bernardo and Antonio De La Campa Cervera whose arrival in our Madrid office doubled our Spanish law Shipping, Transport and Insurance litigation capacity in keeping with client demand. Such expansion is in line with our long-term business strategic objectives.
Tim Kelleher, Thomas Cooper’s senior partner comments:
“We are delighted to welcome these skilled and talented individuals to the partnership all of whom will add to strengthen our foundation and business model. They have shown commitment and diligence in building their respective practice sectors throughout their time with us and I am gratified that two of the promoted partners are entirely “home grown”. As we continue to develop our strategy of expansion in our core sectors, Lisa, Ceri, Celso and Simon’s promotions complement the recent opportunities we have taken through external recruitments and new office openings.”
